Ok, let’s be honest, I live in small town Alberta, Canada and spring break is not all beaches and bikinis here. But it seems after Christmas, New Years and Valentine’s Day, I may have strayed a little off my low carb path! So glad I have Emulin for when that happens, at least I have managed to keep off the weight I had lost. I may not get to the beach or wear a bikini over spring break but it is definitely time to get my body spring break ready! Because I may as well feel great under my winter parka, eh?
If you have been following me at all you will know I generally stick to a low carb diet, not Keto because I just couldn’t do it. I eat less carbs then normal, avoid refined sugar and stay away from processed foods as much as I can. I also take Emulin, which is an amazing carb manager and really is what keeps me on track. If you are looking to get your body spring break ready here are a few tips to help you (and me) on our way to rocking our spring break body’s.
1. Cut the carbs and the crap. Seriously, if you have been bingeing on Christmas cookies, New Years beverages and Valentine’s Day sweets you are likely bloated and inflamed. All the excess sugar and carbs causes excess inflammation in your body. Bloated tummies, less defined muscles and joint pain as well. I stick to 100 to 150 carbs per day but if I really want to lose a few inches I will do a 9 day reset and try and keep my carbs between 75 and 100 per day.
2. Drink lots of water. And by lots I mean 75-95 oz per day. I keep a 24 ounce water bottle with me at all times. If it is there and full of water I drink it. I have found that when I actually drink 75+ oz of water in a day I don’t reach for snacks as often and I don’t go looking for sweets. Water is zero carbs! And it is always right at your finger tips. So put down that can of pop or bottle of juice and grab yourself a nice big glass of water.
3. Get out and move around. The worst part about winter around here is the deep freeze we seem to be in from January until June, at least that’s how it feels some days. So it can be hard to feel motivated to go out and warm your vehicle to go to the gym or to bundle up and go for a walk. I mean let’s face it, it’s cold out there. But if you want to get your body ready for spring break you are going to have to crawl out from under that cozy blanket and move.
4. Just go buy the bikini! While you are working towards better health and less inches on your body, get a bikini and enjoy the body you have. It is great to have goals and work towards fitting that goal outfit or seeing that goal weight on the scale. But it is important to love the body you have right now. Health and happiness starts from within so set those goal and work towards them but don’t put life on hold while you are working on getting there.
Getting your body spring break ready doesn’t have to be hard take your time, exchange some of the bad habits for better healthier habits and in no time at all you will you will be rocking the body you want.
